No Place Like You, written by Jillian Meadows, was an enjoyable contemporary romance following Fable and Theo. Fable is struggling to find her way after the death of her beloved grandfather as she embarks on a journey of self-discovery, trying to learn not to run away from what she truly wants.
Theo, her childhood best friend, is determined to prove that he is here to stay—in town and in Fable's life.
The cast of characters was so sweet and lovable, making for a warm and comforting read. The romance is a slow-burn childhood-friends-to-lovers story with a hint of fake dating. At some point, it becomes a classic will they, won't they? situation, and you're left wondering, "Why haven't they kissed already?!"
I loved Fable's journey as she navigates her grief and her dream of opening a bookshop. She really finds herself not because of Theo, but in tandem with him. He doesn't jump in and save her. Instead, he lets her be messy and even mean—but he loves her through all of it. In turn, Fable helps Theo realize that he is worthy of love and that he is not his father. (TW: off-page parental abuse.)
All in all, I really enjoyed this story and these characters. I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves the childhood-best-friends-to-lovers trope!
